Mark Meeuwenoord

Designer, Polymorf,
Lecturer, Avans University of Applied Sciences



Mark Meeuwenoord is a member of the interdisciplinary Dutch design collective Polymorf and lecturer Media Studies & Philosophy and Creative Coding at Avans University of Applied Sciences. His work focuses on engaging audiences in fully embodied immersive experiences and creating multi-sensory strategies for story and experience design.

Mark has extended experience as consultant in projects like the first virtual festival Zo Niet, Dan Toch and the location based audio applications HearUsHere and DuoDisco. He is lead developer of the award winning Famous Deaths installation and researcher and co-designer in the Sense of Smell & Synaptic Theatre research programs.

What if we use utopias as a verb?

For IAM Weekend 17 we will go deeper into the meaning of utopias, with imagination and skepticism, understanding how they can evolve beyond contemporary dreams and help us navigate the uncertainty of our times.

The main stage will feature 30+ speakers distributed in 5 sessions (single-track conference format) plus 10+ workshops led by our learning partners developing the key insights from the talks. Our serendipitous agenda will also include several side-events including parties, dinners, screenings, special projects and installations.
